Hello and WElcome! I’m Dannika, Founder, Director and LEad Therapist at Mindful Footsteps Counselling.
I believe that everyone is capable of change with the right tools and support and I am excited to be with you on your therapy journey.
My own childhood experiences led me on a pathway of healing and growth as an adult, and ultimately toward becoming a therapist.
My professional path has taken me into several different roles over the past fifteen years supporting children, youth, adult individuals, couples & parents. When you work with kids, you end up working with families, parents and couples, hence the wide variety of experience!
I like to keep things friendly and casual, yet evidence-informed during the therapy journey. I want you to feel relaxed and comfortable to share what you need to in therapy and I pride myself in showing up authentically for my clients.
I am proud to call Niagara home and am happy to offer in person therapy services after a Telehealth intake or online throughout Ontario and Alberta.
While I received my professional degrees including a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child and Youth Studies and Sociology at Brock University, A Bachelor of Social Work Degree at Lakehead University and my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Toronto with a focus on health and mental health, I also lean on my additional training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (Skills Focused) and more.
I whole-heartedly believe that we are all complex and unique beings and therefore I practice as an eclectic therapist, meaning that I draw from different modalities to support you in the best possible way I can.
While I enjoy working with a variety of people, I especially enjoy working with young adults, millennial couples, families, parents and youth 12+ for a variety of concerns. Some of my focusses include anxiety, ADHD, relationship challenges, communication challenges, parent coaching, self-image, self-esteem and eating concerns.
Ultimately, I firmly believe that at the heart of therapy is connection: your connection to your therapist and a focus on improving connections in your life, whether that be with yourself, your significant other, your child, family or other important people in your life.
On that note, I’d like to share a bit about myself for you to connect with me. I am a millennial, a wife, a mama to two fur babies, a sister, a friend, an auntie to several nieces and nephews and a godmother to two children as well. You can often find me cooking and sharing social time with others, exploring and embracing nature and the outdoors, weightlifting in the gym, practicing yoga and enjoying concerts in my spare time.
If you have connected to what I have shared and are interested in learning more about me and working with me, then let’s chat!

Getting Started
A Free 15 Minute consult is offered as a chance to answer any questions you have about therapy and briefly review what your goals are and see if it’s a good fit to work together.
We work virtually across Ontario and Alberta.
In person services offered in Niagara Region.
You are one decision away from a completely different life!
Build it
During our first intake session, we will get to know one another, go over your goals and review approaches that may work for you.
Sessions are usually every two to three weeks to build on the previous session and keep you accountable.
Strengthen It
Throughout therapy, we will review your goals and ensure that the approach used it supporting you to reach them. Once it is mutually agreed upon to end therapy (if you choose), we will work towards “aftercare” and “maintenance” of the success achieved in therapy.
